PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is the highest data protection standard for data transfer and data storage.
SSl (Secure Socket LAyer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) are “encryption agreements” that protect data transmitted over the Internet. We currently use 256-bit encryption, the highest possible level.
PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) is an international standard for storing secure personal information.
Information collected
When creating a SumUp account, we need the following information:
First and last name
Address / location
phone number
E-mail address
Company details
Bank account details
Other related information depending on the type of business
We may request additional personal information from you or a third-party authentication service with whom we have a contractual relationship to complete the necessary verification processes at a later date.
Important
Under no circumstances will SumUp ask you to email your login details. The same is true over the phone: SumUp will not call you asking for your password. Please never enter your password by phone or email. If necessary, SumUp will ask you to confirm your email address to identify your account.
SumUp will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. To securely process payments (e.g., prevent fraud) and provide our service, we need to share some of our payment information with partner companies.

The financial security of you and your customers is always our top priority. Therefore, we may occasionally ask you to provide additional information about specific card payments that you process using SumUp Services. These requests are very rare and are made to protect your account and the cardholders you do business with.
In these cases, SumUp may request additional information about the goods and / or services you provide, the invoices associated with each transaction, and the customer’s contact information (if available) so that we can verify payment.
Network security and technology
Due to the fact that the SumUp device encrypts all information as it reads the card, it does not store any encrypted data on the device during the transaction.

Mobile devices and secure payments
SumUp payments are processed to the highest industry security standards. SumUp's transaction process ensures that all data is encrypted and transferred to our secure payment server.
